As we approach our 50th birthday this year, we have been reflecting on the R K Henshall journey and our place in the local community.
Working with Supported Community Business (SCB)
We’ve built a strong partnership with local charity Supported Community Business (SCB). From helping secure £5,000 through the Aviva Community Awards in 2019 to volunteering at their new premises last Christmas, we’re pleased to support the important work they deliver in our community.
Who are SCB?
SCB is a registered charity providing a therapeutic workshop for individuals with additional support needs. Service users can build workplace skills and experience in real work tasks within a supportive environment, helping them progress towards supported employment and salaried roles. With approximately 10.5 million disabled people of working age in the UK, and only around 54% of those in employment, their work plays an important role in helping to bridge the employment gap.
SCB offers precise product assembly, reliable packaging, comprehensive labelling and efficient outsourcing solutions for businesses.
In 2019, R K Henshall nominated SCB for the Aviva Community Fund awards, where they were awarded a £5,000 grant to support their ongoing work. In December 2025, a team of R K Henshall colleagues spent their corporate volunteering day at SCB’s new premises, painting and decorating the site ahead of its opening.
From introductions to meaningful relationships
