INSURANCE FOR YOU | PROPERTY

Building and Contents insurance

Your home is probably your most valuable asset, but if you are not careful you could easily find out that you don’t have the necessary insurance cover in place in the event of a claim. If you have tried to get cover as ‘cheaply’ as possible you could find out that you are underinsured or not insured on the correct basis, leading to claims either being partially settled or dismissed completely.

Independent Advice

R K Henshall have over 45 years of experience in arranging building and contents insurance for our valued clients. We have access to a number of insurers, keen to write straightforward risks. We also work with others capable of writing more problematic risks, such as homes not considered to be of standard construction. By way of example this may include thatched roofs, listed buildings or timber framed buildings.

If your home is in a high flood risk area or has experienced issues with subsidence in the past, we can also be of assistance.

Buildings and contents insurance cover options

Buildings Cover

This insurance covers the physical structure of your property.  Essentially the bricks and mortar of the building, and any permanent fittings or fixtures.

Contents Cover

Contents insurance will cover the items in your home if they’re damaged or stolen. Some policies also cover your contents while you’re away from home.

Legal Protection

This provides cover for you for almost any legal expense that results from owning a home.  From conveyancing, inheritance and probate, to disputes with neighbours or tradespeople

Home Emergency

Home insurance protects you against flooding and fire, but an emergency add-on includes callouts or replacement parts if the plumbing or heating breaks down, or if you snap your key off in your lock

Away-From-Home

Standard contents insurance will protect your possessions inside your home, but not always when you’re out and about with your laptop or mobile phone. ‘Away-from-home’ covers damage, theft and loss.

Bicycle

If you’re a serious cyclist, your bike is your pride and joy. This add-on will protect it from theft when you’ve locked it up somewhere sensible, or for repairs if you have an accident.

Accidental Damage

Accidents do happen, but they’re not always covered. Accidental damage protects your possessions from everyday mishaps. It will also help out if you make a costly DIY error or break a window.

It’s a myth that is costs more to use a broker than either going direct to an insurer or through an online comparison site.

“We used to insure our house online as we thought this was the cheapest way. We responded to a flyer from R K Henshall and gave them a try. We were surprised how competitive they were, they also helped us to get the cover right, review our sums insured, so we were properly covered.”
